What's a podcast?
A podcast is series of audio or video files that has been set up in
such a way that it will automatically download to your computer each
time a new episode is posted. Assuming your podcast reader is running
it will automatically check to see if a new episode has been posted.
In order to take advantage of this feature, you will need a podcast reader such as Apple's iTunes
which is available for both Mac and PC systems. If you do have a reader
installed, all you need to do is click on the podcast button in the
right margin and it should automatically launch your podcast reader and
begin downloading the current episode. It will also show you a list of
all the past episodes and allow you to download those into your reader
as well.

This is the first of many telephone interviews to come on AA Just For
Today. In this interview, Dan discusses alcoholism and new-found
sobriety with Cindy G., a wife and mother of two teenage children. A
self-proclaimed party girl in her younger years, Cindy didn't begin
drinking regularly until her middle years. She's had suspected she
might have a problem a couple years ago. It wasn't until a recent
blackout which her son had to point out, Cindy realized she had too
much to lose to continue to let alcoholism endanger her health and her
home life.

In the earliest stages of recovery, many alcoholics require medical
treatment and emotional support as they detoxify their bodies and
change their minds. Early treatment options include rehabilitation
centers, hospitalization, medication, counseling, and of course,
Alcoholics Anonymous. Dan also talks about how the support of your
friends and family can be crucial if you do not enter a detox/rehab
program.
